People to People, Inc. as an extension to its orphans support program has constructed
and established a boarding school for AIDS orphans in Amanuel town on the land received
from the local government of Machakel Woreda, Eastern Gojjam. This particular project
is designed to help outstanding AIDS orphans who are on the verge of dropping out
of school or joining the street way of life because of not having anyone to take
care of them. By utilizing the already existing elementary, high school and higher
institutions, the boarding school provides scholarship for outstanding AIDS orphans
from all over the country and assists them to be what they want to be by fulfilling
all the required basic services such as psychological, social, educational, medical,
and all other basic needs. Starting from 2007- to date, 20 AIDS orphans have been
joining the boarding school and continuing their education. For the future, we intended
to strengthen and expand the services in line with the number of AIDS orphans demanding
such services.
