People To People was founded in 1999 and licensed in the state of Kentucky as a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization, establishing the first international charitable organization in Morehead, Kentucky, USA. Like many places worldwide, People To People recognized the need for better medical care for the people who live within, and around the surrounding region of Rowan County, as well as its home state of Kentucky which has over a half million uninsured.
People To People and Dr Mehari sought the help of volunteers and charitable organizations and citizens to combine resources and skills to create The People's Clinic. People To People expanded its outreach globally and in August of 2005, the People's Clinic open its doors making the dream a reality. Today, 8 out of 10 of the patients are from working families. By providing services and helping, we lower the costs of everyone's medical care.
Anyone who has an income at 200% of poverty, and is 18-62 qualifies for treatment at the clinic; volunteers will work with patients to determine if they qualify. Services are provided all day long on Tuesday of each week.
